Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Vietnam

According to the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry, the visit took place at the invitation of Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son. Last September, the Vietnamese Foreign Minister visited Moscow and met with many Russian officials, including his counterpart Sergei Lavrov. Then, at the end of 2021, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc came to Russia at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin. 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of a strategic partnership between the two countries, and this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership. 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of Uncle Ho's arrival in Russia on his journey to find a way to save the country. The visit of Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov to Vietnam took place in the context of new developments in the international and regional situation.
In March, Minister Bui Thanh Son had separate telephone conversations with Russian Foreign Ministers Lavrov and Ukrainian Foreign Ministers Dmitry Kuleba about the conflict between the two sides. In both telephone conversations, he reaffirmed Viet Nam's consistent position that international disputes and differences should be resolved by peaceful means in accordance with the basic principles of the Charter of the United Nations and international law, especially the principle of respect for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of States. He also invited the parties to show restraint, reduce tensions and continue dialogue efforts to find a lasting solution based on international law and taking into account the legitimate interests of the parties. Also in a telephone conversation in March, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov praised Vietnam's role and contribution to peace, stability and development cooperation in the region and the world. He also shared the latest developments in the conflict situation in Ukraine and confirmed that he will do everything possible to support the safe evacuation of Vietnamese citizens from the war zones.
The parties also discussed bilateral relations, during which Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that the Russian side continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Russia to stabilize life, production and business. DUY LINH
