During the meeting, May expressed confidence that the opening of the Consulate General of Belarus in Ho Chi Minh City would contribute to the development of cooperation between the two countries and their communities, confirming that the city authorities would create favorable conditions for the work of the mission.
He invited the two countries to strengthen cooperation in the field of trade, investment, culture, education and tourism, which, according to him, will become the basis for further development of relations between Vietnam and Belarus in general and between Ho Chi Minh City and Belarusian settlements in particular.
Regarding the visit of the Prime Minister of Belarus to Vietnam scheduled for the end of this year, Mai said that Ho Chi Minh City would have the honor to receive the Belarusian leader.
As for the cooperation relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and the city of Minsk in Belarus, the official suggested that both sides choose specific issues to carry out under the cooperation program between the two communities in the period 2020-2025.
For his part, Varankov confirmed that his country considers Vietnam one of its important partners in the region and wishes to develop a strategic partnership with this Southeast Asian country.
He noted that the opening of the Consulate General of Belarus in the Vietnamese South Node is evidence of the importance of cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the context of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The diplomat also suggested that the parties discuss cooperation programs in the field of public transport and infrastructure construction in the near future.
